Transfer Directions
Materials You'll Need:
- DTF printed film with adhesive layer
- Substrate (e.g., fabric, garment, bag, etc.)
- Heat press machine
- Parchment paper or Teflon sheet
- Heat-resistant tape
- Heat-resistant gloves
Step-by-Step Process:
1. Prepare Your Substrate: Make sure your substrate is clean and free from wrinkles or creases. If you are working with fabric, it's a good idea to pre-press it to remove any moisture and wrinkles. This will ensure a smooth surface for the transfer.
2. Set Up the Heat Press: Plug in your heat press machine and allow it to reach the desired temperature. The recommended temperature will vary depending on the DTF film and substrate you're using. Refer to guide below for the suggested temperature and time settings.
3. Position the DTF Print: Lay the substrate on the heat press bed. Position the DTF printed film with the adhesive side facing down onto the substrate. Make sure the design is correctly aligned and centered on the substrate.
4. Secure with Heat-Resistant Tape: Use heat-resistant tape to secure the edges of the DTF film to the substrate. This will prevent any shifting or misalignment during the heat press process.
5. Place Protective Sheet: Place a piece of parchment paper or a Teflon sheet over the DTF film and substrate. This protective sheet serves as a barrier between the heat press platen and the film, preventing direct contact and potential damage.
6. Pressing Process: Carefully lower the heat press platen onto the substrate and DTF film. Apply even pressure and make sure the platen covers the entire design. Refer to the recommended time and temperature settings below.
7. Heat Pressing: Allow the heat press to work for the recommended duration. The combination of heat and pressure will cause the adhesive and ink to bond with the substrate. The heat will also cure the ink, ensuring its longevity and vibrancy.
8. Remove from Heat Press: Once the pressing time is complete, carefully lift the heat press platen. Use heat-resistant gloves to handle the substrate, as it will be hot.
9. Peel off DTF Film: Immediately after pressing, peel the film off while it is still hot. The printed ink should be transfer onto the substrate. After hot peeling, heat press with protective sheet again for 5-10 seconds to ensure proper application of transfer and to soften the design.
10. Final Check: Inspect the transferred design for quality, vibrancy, and adhesion. If the transfer isn't satisfactory, you might need to adjust the temperature, pressure, or time settings for your next attempt.
Remember, the specifics of the heat press process can vary based on the equipment and materials you're using. Always refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for your heat press machine and substrate to achieve the best results.
